Strengthen ALL Jefferson Cluster Schools – Beach, Boise Eliot, Chief Joseph, Faubion, Humboldt, Jefferson, King, Ockley Green, Tubman, Vernon, Woodlawn – And do it NOW!

FACTS:
* The Jefferson cluster has the largest number of high school students in the District
* The Jefferson cluster has the second largest number of K-12 students in the District
* Because of years of poor policy decisions by the District and lack of equal educational opportunities, a majority of students in the Jefferson cluster don’t attend Jefferson
* The plan to divide Jefferson:
- Was not recommended by the Jefferson Design Team
- Is not supported by research or the Jefferson community
* If implemented, the plan will further limit educational opportunities for Jefferson students

Therefore, as concerned parents, citizens, taxpayers, and voters
we urge PPS to immediately …

- Cancel the proposed reorganization – the fourth in recent years – of Jefferson High;
- Respond to community concerns by conducting a comprehensive survey of families in the community, PTAs and site councils of all Jefferson cluster schools, on how to increase enrollment for Jefferson and its feeder schools;
- Increase learning opportunities at Jefferson High to equal those at other PPS high schools, and at all Jeff feeder schools to equal those of other PPS elementary schools;
- Cancel all consideration of leasing Kenton or any Jefferson cluster schools for use as K-12 private or charter schools;
- Locate the PPS Family Welcome Center at a Jefferson cluster school; and,
- Appoint an independent auditor to determine how all PPS, federal and state funds and public and private grants have been spent over the past 10 years.
