Superintendent Vicki Phillips LOVES to ask for robust rigor from everyone, but where is her robust rigor? As long as I have been paying attention, there has been a painful lack of rigor, diligence, and competent data behind Vicki's decisions. Her decisions seem to be driven be short term PR and satisfying the established business crowd.

The data she is using to recreate our school system is based on the assumption that Portland will NEVER GROW more than 10% from where we are now. She assumes Portland will NEVER have as many students as 1970, when our schools were overcrowded. So instead of supporting historic neighborhood schools with great new programs, PPS is liquidating these facilities to pay for a short-term shortage (and a NEW school in North Portland?).
